St Wilfrid's Catholic School

THRIVE lessons are part of our new school careers programme, which will be delivered in Thursday morning tutor sessions. In these lessons’ students will build vocational skills alongside a broad range of careers knowledge. These sessions will support students in choosing their pathways through learning here at St Wilfrid’s and will prepare them to choose a positive career that they can THRIVE in! On the alternate week students will have assembly with their year group. In this time students will be able to experience work encounters with visiting local businesses and Alumni from our Alumni network. Click the Alumni tab for more information or to become part of our network.

Students can access all the THRIVE lesson resources on teams, or they can handwrite in their yearly booklet supplied by their tutor.

The THRIVE programme is based on the New Careers Development Framework (2021), created by the Careers Development Institute. There are 6 strands that the students will study each year, and will build skills as they progress through their time at St Wilfrid’s.

Students from in Year 7 to Year 13 also use Unifrog which allows them the opportunity to write and CV and work on work-related competencies, find further education and higher education routes, look for apprenticeship routes and employment. Students can develop their interest in a particular subject area by taking part in numerous online courses

Our Immersion days are linked to career education, information and guidance. We measure and assess the impact the careers programme has on students as part of our weekly THRIVE and PSHE programme.

We also gain ‘student voice’ on the impact of our careers programme on an annual basis.

West Sussex Destinations Data shows that we have a higher than average rate of students who leave school and study at higher education, further training and employment. Go to our Alumni and destinations tab to find out more about our students destinations.
