Our Courses

Our courses for the community are either free or require a small contribution towards to cost of refreshments.  They are generally in two hour slots from 6pm-8pm and can be anything from a one-off session to an extended eight week course.  All our sessions are a chance to meet other local people keen to learn and ask our experienced tutors those questions you’ve always wanted to know the answers to.

Previous Courses

Entry level English

Aimed at those in the community who have English as a second language, wishing to improve their confidence and language skills.

Basic Business Documents

A popular course that has run for a number of years.  Led by our Head of Business Studies, this course is for those wishing to return to work, improve their business and ICT skills or re-skill from scratch.  It covers writing business letters, agendas, taking minutes, newsletters, mail-merging, creating tables and dealing with invoices and orders.

Introduction to computers

Aimed at those with very basic computer skills who want to know more.  A 2 hour introduction to logging on, opening, using and saving files, good file management, searching the internet and printing.

   Community Tutors

Do you have a skill you think others would value?  Are you able to plan an Adult Education session, with help from the school’s Business & Community Manager?  Can you help people tackle new skills with patience and enthusiasm?  Do you want to add a valuable element to your CV and become a voluntary St Wilfrid’s Community Tutor? We are looking for local people who want to share their skills in a variety of subjects with the community.  You could be an expert in making curtains, a whizz at interview techniques or a fantastic poet – it doesn’t matter so long as you are willing and able to share your knowledge and experience with your local community.

If this sounds like something you would like to do, please contact Ms Myers, details above, for an informal discussion.
