Former St Wilfrid’s student treads the boards

on the West End stage

We are very impressed with Simon Higgins. He attended St. Wilfs. between 1997-2004 and passed his A2 Theatre Studies Course with flying colours. Inspired to become a professional actor he went on to study at Drama School in London. Year 11 Drama students were lucky enough to see him in action last week in ‘Bouncers’ at the Leicester Square Theatre.

Simon commented, “It was Miss McDonald who first encouraged me to start acting. My first ever role was playing Amanda Wingfield from ‘The Glass Menagerie’ by Tennessee Williams. Although it was a part for a woman, I loved playing her, as it was so far away from the 16 year old boy that I was. That is why I love acting - it gives you the opportunity to be anything!"

Chris Dunster, Daniel Betch, Brian Povey and Alex Tackley will be performing their version of ‘Bouncers’ for their GCSE Drama exam in May.

“The trip was great and gave us lots of ideas ideas about how we can make it as funny as possible.” Chris

“I enjoyed the experience, I thought it gave me a great insight into how to play my character.” Daniel

“The show was wonderful, I loved it. Seeing the play has given me more confidence to play a woman!” Brian

“I thought that the show was a great way of seeing a former student going well in his professional acting career.” Alex
