St Wilfrid’s Students Perform Little Shop of Horrors Showcase

at Mayors Ball

 

On Saturday 23rd January, 2010, the cast and crew from St Wilfrid’s Catholic’s Schools latest production, Little Shop of Horrors, were invited to play at the Mayors Ball at The Hawth in Crawley.

 

St Wilfrid’s were the only school invited to perform at the Ball.  The cast came onstage at 9.30pm and performed a short montage from the production of Little Shop of Horrors in a 10 minute slot.  The audience reaction was fantastic with one guest commenting, “The performance was amazing, we are definitely booking tickets for the full performance in March!”

 

The production of Little Shop of Horrors is a rock musical by composer Alan Menken and writer Howard Ashman, about a hapless florist shop worker who raises a plant that feeds on human blood. The musical is based on the low-budget 1960 black comedy film The Little Shop of Horrors,  composed by Menken in the style of early 1960s rock and roll, doo-wop and early Motown, includes several show-stoppers including "Skid Row (Downtown)", "Somewhere That's Green", and "Suddenly, Seymour", as well as the title song.

 

This year’s production promises to be fantastic and as last year’s production sold out it would be wise to book tickets as soon as possible.  The performance runs for three nights from Thursday 18th March until Saturday 20th March 2010.  Tickets are priced at £7 for adults and £5 for concessions and are available from Diane Brill in the office on 01293 421421.
