Mikey Mouse Seminars

Mikey Mouse Seminars
At the end of January Mr Chandler and Mrs Carter took a group of Year 12
Business, ICT and Language students to spend three days in Disneyland, Paris.
The idea was not to fulfil the students' lifelong dreams of finally meeting
Goofy, Snow White et al in the flesh, but to attend a series of six seminars on
Business & ICT based on the operations of Disneyland. The result was an
educational experience that was anything but "mickey mouse", as Mr Chandler
tells us.
"After a three-hour delay at Folkestone - during which we all became very
well-informed, having read every available newspaper from cover to cover - we
finally arrived at our rather magnificent Wild West themed hotel. The seminars
provided for the students were excellent. The students themselves all worked
very hard and were fantastic company, very mature and courteous.

"We couldn't be so mean as to bring them to Disneyland without giving them some
time to have fun, though! Unfortunately Mrs Carter was debarred from going on
the rides because of her pregnancy and could only look on in envy. I myself
managed to brave the 'Hollywood Hotel' and was, shall we say, a little scared [coughs self-consciously]...
"On the serious side, this was a very worthwhile educational visit which will
have greatly enriched the students' studies and improved their language skills.
It is always extremely valuable to have a first-hand opportunity of setting
classroom studies into a real-life context."
